Mod Minecraft with AI: six contributor reports

Last updated:

These are reported projects from six downloaded Minecraft field notes, each marked working by its contributor. The versions identify those reports, not a compatibility promise. This guide covers single-player modding only; we have not run these builds ourselves.

Bloons TD 6 inside Minecraft

Approach: A pure-Java, headless simulation owns the tower-defense rules; Minecraft displays bloons and towers and supplies input. This reimplementation rebuilds the guest simulation instead of running two live games.

Reported setup: Minecraft Java 1.20.1, Forge 47.2.0 and Java 17; the user also ran the shipped jar on Forge 47.4.10. Guest data came from Bloons TD 6 v56.3, Epic Games Store build.

Reported status: working. The note describes automated engine checks and a scripted real-world client run whose screenshots were reviewed. That evidence applies to the documented setup, not every modpack.

Half-Life 2 guns passthrough

Approach: The real Half-Life 2 Demo draws and plays audio for the weapon; a Fabric mod supplies Minecraft gameplay such as hitscan and grenade effects. Input reaches HL2 through console configuration files, and its keyed weapon image overlays Minecraft.

Reported setup: Minecraft Java 26.3 demo account, Fabric Loader 0.19.5, Fabric API 0.161.0+26.3; Half-Life 2 Demo Steam app 219, depot build 19307283. The contributor used macOS 27 arm64 with Wine 10.0 and DXVK for the Windows demo.

Reported status: working. All seven demo weapons are reported working, with screenshots, timing traces and a recorded clip with audio. Camera-angle synchronization remains an open question; the note uses simulated 2D sway.

Resident Evil 2 picture composited into Minecraft

Approach: A native REFramework plugin and Fabric client mod exchange frames and camera data; a depth test decides whether the Minecraft or RE2 surface is nearer. This passthrough report is a first-person picture-compositing slice.

Reported setup: Minecraft Java 26.3, Fabric Loader 0.19.5, Fabric API 0.161.0+26.3, JDK 25; Resident Evil 2 Steam app 883710 on D3D12 with REFramework 1.5.9.1, on Windows.

Reported status: working. The note records protocol harnesses and a live two-game run, including Minecraft stones occluding the guest image. Audio mixing and the third-person policy were not verified; the Fabric side has no one-click installation path yet.

NeoForge custom dimension and tool tier

Approach: NeoForge registers items and blocks; datapack JSON handles the dimension, world generation, recipes and tags. This loader-API route uses a teleport item instead of a portal-frame system.

Reported setup: Minecraft Java 1.21.1, NeoForge 21.1.252, JDK 21, Windows 11.

Reported status: working. The contributor checked tier stats, dimension ore density and teleport behavior. Headless checks did not verify client models, textures or sky; those needed a human in-game check. Dimension tests needed a normal server because the GameTest server created only the Overworld.

Kindred local-LLM companion

Approach: A Fabric entity uses Ollama for local language-model planning alongside model-free reflexes, navigation, persisted memory and a bounded landmark atlas. The route is loader API.

Reported setup: Minecraft Java 1.20.1, Fabric Loader 0.15.11, Fabric API 0.92.2+1.20.1, Java 17, Windows 10. The verified mod was 0.1.0-alpha.4 in the user’s Dreamcraft Fabric instance.

Reported status: working. The note reports 19 unit tests and 17 Minecraft GameTests passing. Two short user play sessions reported no Kindred crashes. Model latency, VRAM use and FPS impact under heavy load were not measured; several proposed architecture and integration features remain unwired.

Ruby Rush talent mod

Approach: The Forge loader-API report describes a 220-talent tree across nine tabs, a custom GUI, vein mining, tree felling, a death chest and rubies, using supported Forge APIs.

Reported setup: Minecraft Java 1.20.1, Forge 47.4.10, Java 17, Windows 11 with Prism Launcher. The reported local release is v1.4.0.

Reported status: working. The human played it and a 201-check Python suite checked sources, jar and assets. Public hosting was deferred. The build file was lost in a temporary-directory wipe, so further development needs it reconstructed from the retained source and jar backups.

Start your own Minecraft mod

Install Universal Modder, then use the item template or engine template with your Minecraft version and loader. Keep the first goal to one item or one observable interaction. The README workflow calls for searching notes, identifying the route, backing up saves and building a small slice before expansion.

For a cross-game project, compare the routes in merge games with AI. The Minecraft in GTA V guide explains the official bridge example. Do not combine a loader version from one report with a game version from another and assume support.

Frequently asked questions

Which Minecraft version should I use?

Match the note for the project you want to study. The six reports use different Minecraft and loader versions; they do not establish universal compatibility.

Is an AI companion the same as AI-assisted modding?

Kindred is a reported mod with a local language-model companion. The other reports use coding agents to build mods; they do not all put a language model inside Minecraft.

Have these Minecraft mods been tested by AI Game Mods?

No. Working status and verification details are contributor reports from the linked notes. Use backups and verify a small slice in your own single-player setup.
